The importance of recycling , plastic packaging
March 21st, 2008The concept of recycling means creating new products by means of reprocessing old materials. It is applied in order to reduce energy waste and lower greenhouse gas emissions to the Earth’s atmosphere. Recyclable materials include glass, paper, aluminums, plastics or textiles. As our health depends on the environment to great extent, the authorities should educate the public about the importance of recycling. Moreover, people should choose green products, that is the ones that can be recycled.
Recycling has been introduced because of the fact that the societies produce too much packaging and food waste. Even if rubbish end up on the garbage dumps, the diseases spread more easily and the soils becomes contaminated. Unfortunately, although the idea of waste management was introduced a couple of years ago, many people still don’t try to sort their litter. Worse still, they litter on the streets, in forests or in parks. It seems that people forgot about the actions of bringing to school old magazines and newspapers for recycling. There are also many people who burn their rubbish, including plastic bottles and other plastic packaging which is tantamount to making us breathe toxic and carcinogenic substances that are emitted while burning.

On the other hand, recycling concerns not only individuals but also big factories. Some entrepreneurs who use recyclable materials in their factories, such as the producers of plastic packaging have to be encouraged to use cleaner methods of production and instead of pouring chemicals into water or releasing them into the Earth’s atmosphere, they should recycle their waste.
We should remember that we are part of the environment and our life and health depends on the environment. That is why some stricter regulations concerning waste management should be introduced as the majority of people ignore the problem of pollution or recycling. If everyone contributed to recycling, the situation would be better.
